Catboek is uit!
Jawel, het duurde even, maar mijn Catboek is van de pers gerold. De cover ziet er spetterend uit dankzij een speciale vernis. De mannen in actie en de titel springen er echt uit. De opmaak is vernieuwend en past prima bij de stoere doelgroep.

CATBOEK
Laatste loodjes
Mijn nieuwe Catboek is bijna een feit. Tijdens de Hiswa verscheen de dummy. De opmaak is spetterend en past goed bij de doelgroep. Nu nog de puntjes op de i zetten en dan hebben de Nederlandse catamaranzeilers eindelijk een eigentijds naslagwerk.

Delta Lloyd wordt titelsponsor en Diabo schrijft weer
Verzekeringsmaatschappij Delta Lloyd wordt titelsponsor van de 24-Uurs Zeilrace 2006. Op donderdag 2 maart 2006 ondertekenden Jos Peeters van Delta Lloyd en Frits Berkel van de Nederlandsche Vereeniging van Kustzeilers het eenjarige contract met de optie op verlenging.

Redactionele bijdrage aan FD Persoonlijk
Vlak na de finish van ABN AMRO 2 in Melbourne, sprak ik uitvoerig met de Nederlandse bemanningsleden Gerd-Jan Poortman en Simeon Tienpont. Morgen leest u in de watersportspecial van FD Persoonlijk over de ervaringen van deze twee jonge talenten, die als beste oranjezeilers uit de selectie kwamen.

Team ABN AMRO 1 zette zaterdag 4 februari 2006 de overwinningsreeks tijdens de Volvo Ocean Race 2005-06 onverstoord door. Bij de derde havenwedstrijd vol met spanning en drama, vloog de Black Betty opnieuw als eerste over de finishlijn.

Movistar verdient derde plek
“Ik ben blij dat we er zijn”, zei Bouwe Bekking nadat hij Movistar veilig had aangelegd in de Docklands. “Het was voor ons een moeilijke race, dus we zijn tevreden met het resultaat. Het had anders kunnen lopen.” Na de tweede scoring gate bij Eclips Island, voer het Spaanse team naar Albany voor een noodreparatie aan de hydraulische cilinder van de kantelkiel. “Ik wilde me niet uit een tweede etappe terugtrekken. Nu hebben we de punten op het scoreboard staan.”

Team ABN AMRO slaat weer dubbelslag
“Mijn doel was om hier met een grotere voorsprong te finishen dan in Kaapstad en dat is gelukt”, sprak ABN AMRO 1 schipper Mike Sanderson opgelucht. Op zaterdagavond even na acht uur lokale tijd, gleed de zwarte bankboot als eerste over de finishlijn bij Williamstown in Melbourne.

56th Centomiglia
Team Holmatro wins Multicento Class
On Saturday September 9th 2006, Volvo Extreme 40 Team Homatro won the Multicento class of the 56th Centomiglia in Italy. After more than eight hours and hundred miles of racing up and down Lake Garda, skipper Andreas Hagara (AUT) and his crew were third to cross the finish line at Bogliaco.

Extreme Swedish catamaran challenge
I had the honour to experience the Archipelago Raid as a journalist and I saw an incredible adventure. Thirty-one teams, representing eleven countries, lined up for this extreme challenge on a F18 beach cat. During five days and four nights, they faced all kind of sailing conditions and navigational brain-racking through a breath-taking archipelago between Sweden and Finland.

Sailing and Soccer
After a black episode in the seventh leg to Portsmouth and a snail-like race to Rotterdam, the Volvo Open 70’s finally arrived in the Netherlands. It was like finishing in the southern hemisphere with lots of sun and spectator boats. The crowd cheered for the brave sailors, as they were heading for the dock in the Veerhaven.

Volvo Extreme 40 – Team Holmatro
Americans win first Grand Prix series
The first Volvo Extreme 40 Grand Prix series have come to an end. During five stopovers of the Volvo Ocean Race, five 40-foot catamarans has battled for the overall victory. Tommy Hilfiger turned out to be the best performing crew. Team Holmatro from the Netherlands came fourth.

Diabo goes extreme with Team Holmatro
After its successful first appearance in Vigo, the Volvo Extreme 40 catamaran class will be back on the water in Rio de Janeiro. Its second Grand Prix will start on March 21st. Holmatro has contracted me to support the pr of Team Holmatro.

Six out of seven Volvo Open 70’s are back on the ocean for the third leg from Melbourne to Wellington / NZL. After three exciting weeks in Australia, the starting gun was fired on Sunday February 12th.

New pictures online of Melbourne finish
“We have good news for you, we will continue”, said Grant Wharington at his arrival in Melbourne. After 21 days, 10 hours, 42 minutes and 44 seconds, he and his crew finally finished the second leg of the Volvo Ocean Race. The Australian entry sailed proudly into the Docklands. Today, the Dutch company Brunel has announced to continue the sponsorship, which will bring the team around the world.
