Sometimes things evolve very quickly. Only 1,5 week ago Yvo Janssen called me with the question what I was doing. A few days earlier, I heard he was involved in the last-minute Volvo Ocean Race campaign of Team Delta Lloyd. So, his telephone call gave me hope instantly. And guess what…he was interested in my services. Wow, what an opportunity. It has always been a major goal of mine to work for a VOR syndicate.

On Wednesday September 17^th, Yvo called me again and asked me to write the first press release to announce the five Dutch sailors who will join the rest of the crew in Alicante. Their training session starts on September 23^rd. Within three to five days, Maurice Paardenkooper (NED) and skipper Ger O’Roarke (IRL) will select the team that is going to compete in the inport-race. And I will report on the whole process, the racing on October 4^th and the start of the first leg to Cape Town on October 11^th. I am hired to write the web updates and press releases, illustrated with my photography. Although partly, a dream comes true. Of course I would like to follow the whole circuit, but we will talk about that after the evaluation of my work in Alicante. First things first, so let’s go to Spain.
