Hobie Tiger & Hobie Dragoon Worlds 2008

Reporting from my sailor's point of view

On February 27th, I will leave for South Africa again. Two years after the Hobie 16 Worlds in Port Elizabeth, I will return to this beautiful Hobie Cat minded country. We will race in Langebaan Lagoon. Langebaan is a little seaside town on the West Coast. The conditions seem to be great with good winds of 20 to 25 knots and lots of sunshine. Hobie Cat France hires me and photographer Pierrick Contin (FRA) to report on the 6th Hobie Tiger & 3rd Hobie Dragoon Worlds.

I will combine my writing job with the sailing, as I will compete as well. I will team up with Stuart Gummer (UK), with whom I finished fifth at the Aruba Heineken Catamaran Regatta. In order to get used to the Hobie Tiger as a duo, we have planned a winter training session in the UK next weekend. The competition will be strong, as current F18 World Champion and 5 times Tornado World Champion Darren Bundock (AUS) has pre-entered. Not with his crew Glenn Ashby, but with the only female Olympic Tornado skipper and silver medallist at the 2007 Worlds, Carolijn Brouwer (BEL). The current F18 European champions Mischa Heemskerk and Batiaan Tentij (NED) will line up as well.

During the championships, I will take care of the daily press releases. In case a magazine wants a special article, they can contact me. My reports on the 2008 Hobie Tiger & Hobie Dragoon Worlds will be published on http://hobieworlds.com/tiger2008/.
