“We have good news for you, we will continue”, said Grant Wharington at his arrival in Melbourne. After 21 days, 10 hours, 42 minutes and 44 seconds, he and his crew finally finished the second leg of the Volvo Ocean Race. The Australian entry sailed proudly into the Docklands. Today, the Dutch company Brunel has announced to continue the sponsorship, which will bring the team around the world.

Team ABN AMRO did another fantastic job by claiming the first two spots again. The Spanish Movistar boat with Dutch skipper Bouwe Bekking came in third, followed by the Pirates of the Caribbean.

I am on location to experience these amazing moments and it has been fantastic so far. I am working for the Dutch magazine Zeilen and write updates for their website www.zeilen.com as well. In addition to the sailing media, I will write an article on Gerd Jan Poortman and Simeon Tienpont (both crew members of ABN AMRO 2) for a life style magazine, called Winners & Co.
